Year 5 Science
Year 5 Science
Scientific enquiry
Throughout these topics the children will have the opportunities to make predictions, plan a fair test and identify factors that need to be taken into consideration in different contexts. They will make careful observations of a range of musical instruments, learn about the properties and importance of gases and understand the processes of evaporation, condensation, germination, pollination and seed dispersal. They will measure pulse rate and consider why observations and measurements should be repeated. Pupils will present results in bar charts and line graphs and will decide whether their results support any prediction made. The reliability of evidence collected will be considered and they will use scientific knowledge and understanding to interpret data and draw conclusions.
